City Development Survey

You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the center of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.

Choose the option that you prefer. Why do you prefer your choice? Explain the reasons for your choice. Write about 150-200 words.

Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a supermarket, and a movie theatre.

Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.

CELPIP Responding to Survey Questions City Development Survey – Model Answer 1 –  Recreational Park

In my view, the recreational park would be a better choice. Even though a shopping complex is also a good option, the recreational park would offer more practical benefits to our society.

Firstly, We do not have any sports complexes in our town. We have many children in our town but they do not have any sports academy to develop their athletic/sports abilities over here.

I know a few children and they go to the next nearby town for their sports training. It will be definitely a good idea to build a sports complex in our town.

Secondly, most of our families have pets in our home and they love animals. As of now, we do not have any petting zoos in our town. A large green area along with a petting zoo would be a great option for our family members to spend some quality time with various species of animals that are docile enough to touch and feed.

Considering these factors, I think a Recreational park would be a better option and residents will love this. Again this is my personal opinion and I will support whatever decision is made.

CELPIP City Development Survey – Model Answer 2 – Recreational Park

I prefer a recreational park on several accounts.

First, it includes a sports complex. It’s a great chance for people of different ages to do some physical exercise to keep fit and healthy. Those who are at work are usually running a sedentary job, so this sports complex gives them a chance to release their stress and keep them in shape and healthy. Younger people also get a chance to get together more to socialize and keep away from addictive computer games or computers.

Second, the park encompasses a large green area. The green area is an appeal to the eyes. It’s relaxing and refreshing. On top, the gravity of global warming further necessitates the existence of such green spaces.

Finally, a small petting zoo is great for kids. It can be a lot of fun to spend time with petting animals. Kids like to experience new things and they can learn how to express their feelings for animals. They can learn to respect animal rights as well. Most importantly, it can serve educational purposes. Kids can learn more about different animals, their habitats, their eating habits, their reactions, etc.

As a result, the establishment of a recreational park should be prioritized.

CELPIP Survey Questions City Development Survey – Shopping Complex – Model Answer 3

Personally, I believe a shopping complex would be the better choice. Even though the recreational park will improve the health and wealth of the people also improve the air quality of the city, the shopping center offers more conventional choices for the residents.

Firstly, there are a few choices for restaurants and only one small market for groceries. In addition to that, there is not an option for entertainment in our town. people need to go out of town for food and movies.

Secondly, a large supermarket can offer a variety of new products. as it will be built in the center of the city it will be very convenient for everyone. As well as, there is an option to make international cuisine offers a variety of food. Along with that, there is no need to go out for entertainment and it will improve the revenue of the city.

Considering these reasons, I believe the shopping center is a better choice to construct. everyone in the city would be overjoyed.

I appreciate the authorities’ concern regarding the development of this town. As far as my opinion is concerned, I think that the construction of a shopping complex will be more beneficial than a recreational park.

There will be numerous benefits of having a shopping mall in this town. Currently, the local people have to go to the nearby city if they want quality and variety in the products that they buy. So, a shopping complex will help the residents in all their shopping needs. However, there is no dearth of green areas in and around this town which lessens the need of any kind of park.

Apart from this, the inclusion of a restaurant and a movie theatre will take care of the recreational needs of the locals and there will be no need to go out of the city to seek such facilities. Moreover, these facilities will also attract outsiders into the town and hence, it will give a boom to the local businesses as well.

Therefore, keeping in mind its immediate and long-term benefits, I would like to have a shopping complex in my town.

Nowadays, People struggle to find fresh air around they live and it’s affecting every citizen living in towns and cities.

Given this fact, I would prefer a recreational park built for multiple reasons, losing greenery is a major problem all around the world due to the ever-increasing population which is triggering many towns and cities expansions. This makes people living in towns and cities more prone to many respiratory diseases.

Building a recreational park will retain and also improve the existing green corridor in the town, and adding a sports complex will be added feature and will promote good healthy activities in the form of sports. Many working people living in towns need a break from their busy work schedules, Having a sports complex will give them a chance to learn and practice sports.

Additionally, Petting Zoo will definitely add value to the park, Firstly, it will improve revenue to the city with zoo visitors and secondly will help kids to see a variety of animal habitats in their natural living. This will help future generations to understand the benefits of keeping natural green areas in and around cities.

In conclusion, Having parks with sports complexes will improve people’s standards of living and promote good health, so, Recreational park is the preferred option in my option.

When I heard the news about the redevelopment, I was elated and excited for our town. It has been so long since we had a project this big in our city. I appreciate that you are considering our opinion on this matter. In this regard, I think it is a far better option to build a shopping complex than a recreational park.

Firstly, we do not have a shopping center yet in our area. The nearest grocery store is a 40-minute drive from the town’s center. It is far and not very accessible to our residents. This is a problem for us especially if we ran out of supplies and it would be great if we have a supermarket nearby to shop on these instances.

Secondly, the majority of the population in our town and neighboring cities are young adults. Thus, a shopping complex would be attractive to them since they could now have a place to hang out. If we put trendy restaurants and large movie theaters, we could entice more people to visit our town. This would eventually increase our town’s income.

Lastly, our town is abundant in nature. We already have a lot of parks, hiking trails, and lakes. We are also surrounded by beaches. Accordingly, I do not see any additional benefit in building a recreational park.
