CELPIP Speaking Score
The CELPIP speaking tasks are reviewed by at least three independent evaluators from Paragon Testing before a final score is assigned. These evaluators assess four different aspects of the test-taker’s performance: Content/Coherence, Vocabulary, Listenability, and Task Fulfillment. Each aspect is given a score out of five possible levels, as determined by a set of performance descriptions. The evaluators look for specific examples in the test-taker’s task that match the descriptions in the rating scale.
If the scores given by different evaluators do not match, a separate, experienced evaluator (called a benchmark rater) will review the task to determine a final score. These benchmark raters are chosen for their consistent accuracy and reliability in scoring, and they do not know the initial scores given by the other evaluators.
